Keith: Rival IQ staff profile

Next up in profiling the amazing folks behind Rival IQ: Keith Moore, one of our software engineers.

Who are you?

I’m Keith Moore, AKA “Keith Mo,” which is what many people seem to know me as. Where to start? I’m an engineer here. Mostly back-end server, infrastructure-y things. I’ve spent most of my career working on components that don’t demo well. When I’m not here working, I’m probably home with my wife Kasia and our four cats, or out on a stupid long bike ride with the Seattle Randonneurs. Continue reading

Cat: Rival IQ staff profile

We’re digging into the folks behind the scenes here at Rival IQ. Next up: Cat Martinez, one of our Customer Success Managers.

Hi Cat! Tell us about yourself.

My name is Cat, I am on the success team at Rival IQ and I love the outdoors. My wife, five-year-old, and even our family dog are all really big into camping. And when I say camping, I mean off the grid camping–no glamping here! [Laughs] We try to spend as much time as we possibly can outside, especially being newer to the Seattle area–there is so much to take in.

Cheryl: Rival IQ staff profile

First things first, who are you?

I’m Cheryl, a software developer on the engineering team here at Rival IQ. I like fried chicken and I like to draw. You’ll hear more about that later on, I imagine.

What do you do here?

I am the youngest member of the engineering team, so I’m still picking up everything that makes the Rival IQ product what it is. I started last June, and I’ve been learning bits and pieces of our codebase since then.

Climbing with a Side of Culture (and Cocktails)

Remember how you used to celebrate the hundredth day of the year in elementary school by bringing in 100 items (like pennies or paperclips)? We couldn’t think of 1 billion things that would fit in our office, so to celebrate our customers indexing their 1 billionth post in our app, we went rock climbing instead.

In this crazy world of product launches (hello, Instagram Insights!) and social media outages (sigh, Instagram), it can be tough to carve out an afternoon away from our computers, but our team is committed to time together for a strong and productive culture. Continue reading

Making the Rival IQ API Work for You

How can you use Rival IQ’s API to make the most of your social media analytics?

Part of our goal of empowering marketers to take full advantage of your social media analytics means inviting you to go beyond our software. We created the Rival IQ API to play nicely with a wide variety of apps, like Google Analytics, Tableau, Google Data Studio, and tons of others. Read on to learn more about how to put your Rival IQ API to work.

First of all: what is an API?

API stands for application programming interface. Clear as mud, right? APIs help applications (like Facebook and iCal, or Google and Rival IQ) talk to each other on the back end without the user having to leave the application they’re currently working in. Each application stores its information on servers, and APIs are the messengers that run between those servers. These messengers allow a wide variety of different software applications and platforms to seamlessly communicate.
